Park & Conservation Rules

Help us protect the Mara for future generations. These rules keep wildlife wild, visitors safe, and the ecosystem thriving.

Park Rules

  • Entry and exit only through designated gates during official hours (06:00–18:30).
  • A valid ticket or pass must be carried at all times inside the park.
  • Keep to designated roads and tracks — off-road driving is prohibited.
  • Do not exceed 50 km/h; give wildlife the right of way.
  • No firearms, pets, or drones without written authorisation.

Conservation Rules

  • Do not feed, touch, or disturb any wildlife.
  • Maintain at least 25 metres from all animals.
  • Do not pick plants, collect bones, or remove anything from the park.
  • No fires except at designated campsites.
  • Carry out all litter — leave no trace.

Vehicle Rules

  • Maximum five vehicles at any single wildlife sighting.
  • Switch off engines when stationary at a sighting where possible.
  • No hooting or loud music.
  • Stay inside your vehicle except at designated picnic/viewing points.

Camping Rules

  • Camp only at designated public or special campsites with a valid permit.
  • Keep food sealed and stored safely from wildlife.
  • Quiet hours after 22:00.
  • Do not approach or feed animals attracted to camp.

Photography & Filming Rules

  • Personal photography is welcome from your vehicle.
  • Commercial filming requires a filming permit purchased in advance.
  • No flash photography at night that may disturb wildlife.
  • Respect the privacy and customs of Maasai communities — ask before photographing people.
